Garrison Properties, a real estate development company specializing in military housing on Monterey Peninsula, recently hosted an official “Going Vertical” ceremony to inaugurate their latest project at Fort Ord Army base – attended by Army and Michaels Organization officials. Colonel Varman Chhoeung of the USAG Presidio of Monterey and Michaels Organization Vice President Ted Lim lifted a wall together to mark the commencement of construction for the first homes at Manzanita Place community. This affordable rental community will feature 66 affordable rental homes spread out among open common areas and courtyards; each will comply with LEED Silver energy efficiency standards for sustainability and efficiency.

The community will offer three unique types of single-family home designs: Monarch, Heritage and Artisan homes. Monarch homes feature two-story designs that balance charm with comfort, featuring historic architectural details to honor the region’s rich legacy while offering state-of-the-art interiors and Green-Built energy features.

These new homes will be situated at the center of their communities, within easy access of schools, shopping, beaches and major highways. Home styles will range from cozy bungalows to California-style houses constructed to LEED silver energy standards that will save up to 30% in energy costs compared to conventional structures. Construction should be complete by 2022.

As well as offering new homes, this community will feature amenities such as a 6,000-square-foot library and Sheriff field office. Design of this facility will begin in 2024 with construction starting around 2027; tax increment generated from Century’s project will cover its funding needs.

Grower-Shipper Association of Central California

The Grower-Shipper Association of Central California is a non-profit corporation representing the vegetable industry in Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz Counties of California. Established in 1930 and located in Salinas California; they provide research, advocacy, legal support as well as an array of online marketing and advertising programs to their members.

Recently, Grower-Shipper Association held a meeting to install its new board of directors.
