Weber State Graphic Design
Graphic design degrees offer students an ideal way to break into the artistic and imaginative realm. While developing practical professional skills, graphic design degrees also encourage experimentation and growth within art itself.
Weber State students enrolled in this program gain access to KVAC Digital Media Lab at Weber State and take part in AIGA Portfolio Review event held each year in Salt Lake City; at which they often receive employment or internship offers.
Art
As a graphic design student at Weber State University, you will gain exposure to a range of art and design techniques. Their art and design department boasts talented faculty with vast professional experience who instruct their students in using various media such as photography, fashion and studio art; further encouraging experimentation and creativity.
Students enrolled in the Art department can participate in various arts-related community service activities, such as providing hands-on workshops to children, gallery tours, film screenings and travel-study trips – giving students the chance to gain exposure to contemporary art while building relationships among peers. Furthermore, an annual trip is organized for Art students to visit Venice Biennale; other travel study options provide students with additional chances to learn about contemporary culture while socializing among themselves.
The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Art degree offers an incredibly versatile four-year program for art students to explore their artistic disciplines with flexibility, including painting, sculpture and printmaking. Additionally, there is an internship, junior/senior design studio and senior project available through this degree program.
BFA graduates can pursue positions in advertising, exhibition design, brand management and packaging design, publishing and web/interactive media as well as graduate study. Alumni have worked for Columbia Pictures, The Metropolitan Opera and IBM projects and even launched successful businesses themselves!

Elaine Weber is an accomplished artist and designer with more than three decades of professional experience. She has served as a guest lecturer, judged competition entries, public speaking engagements and exhibitions featuring her work have taken place worldwide. Elaine is also involved with local charities including Cafe Joshua, Street Painting Festival and American Lung Association and volunteers her design services whenever needed – she’s even part of Executive Women of Palm Beaches as well as Lake Worth Tree Board!
Communication
Bachelor’s degrees in communication provide an ideal pathway to careers in public relations, media, writing and other related areas. These degrees also equip students with the skills needed to manage and plan social media for businesses – providing access to many industries including nonprofit organizations, government agencies and even military service. Many colleges and universities offer programs in this field and students may select one of many concentration options during their study time.
The Department of Visual Art, Communication and Design offers a BFA in Graphic Design with either Creative Practice or Digital Design as its emphasis. The curriculum comprises foundational studies as well as studio-focused courses such as Graphic Design Practice, Typography and Publication Design, Advanced Illustration and Digital Media; additionally a professional practices course is required; students may choose an optional focus in Interactive Design or Graphic Design History and Theory for added depth of study. Students also benefit from internship and co-op opportunities while attending weekly Hashimoto Communication Arts Seminar to network with professionals within their area of specialty.
Our program’s small classes and innovative curriculum make it an exceptional and exciting opportunity for students. Graduates may pursue various career paths after graduating, such as advertising, exhibition design, web/interactive media publishing and 3D modeling and animation – as well as branding marketing management or management of other types. After graduation students may participate in the annual AIGA Portfolio Review event held in Salt Lake City which has resulted in employment or internship offers for many of our alumni.
Graphic Design
Graphic design majors learn to combine creative skills and computer technology to develop visually appealing communications that are engaging. This degree is considered applied arts major and may lead to careers in advertising, publishing and web design. Humanities
